Afrobeat maestro and the first son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Afrobeat icon, Femi Kuti, has reportedly been transferred to an undisclosed Lagos hospital for emergency surgery.
It was reported that the usual Sunday gig Femi holds at the New African Shrine was called off with a concise explanation to patrons.
A statement released by the management of the New African Shrine called for prayers as Femi goes under the surgeon’s knife.
The statement reads:
“THIS IS TO INFORM OUR FANS AND LOVERS OF AFROBEAT THAT THERE WILL NOT BE SUNDAY JUMP ON 22-11-15 BECAUSE AMBASSADOR FEMI KUTI IS GOING FOR AN OPERATION AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. WE WILL KEEP ALL UPDATED ON THE SCHEDULE OF WHEN THE POSITIVE FORCE BAND WILL PLAY AS OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH AMBASSADOR FEMI KUTI, AFROBEAT FOREVER!!!!!
The cause of ailment could not be ascertained as at press time.
