It was gathered that days after the delivery of her new baby, she fell ill and was asked to remain at the hospital for observation, where she later died.
Moji Olaiya was raised by veteran Nigerian highlife music maestro, versatile trumpeter, jazz singer. highlife music legend and “The Evil Genius of Highlife”, Victor Olaiya. She was said to have adopted the name Olaiya to honour the musician who raised her since she was young.

A source close to the late actress confirmed to newsmen that Moji Olaiya could not raise enough money for her treatment before she died.

The daughter of highlife musician Victor Olaiya, Moji Olaiya began her acting career with Wale Adenuga’s production ‘Super Story’. She starred in several Nollywood movies of Yoruba and English genres.
She is known for her roles in films such as No Pains No Gains, in which she played Ireti, Sade Blade (2005), Nkan adun (2008) and Omo iya meta leyi (2009). She also starred in the Agunbaniro. In 2003 she was nominated for the Reel Award Best Supporting Actress of the Year, and she won the Best New Actress Award.
She married Bayo Okesola in 2007 but they became estranged and separated soon after. She converted from Christianity to Islam in 2014.
Reports have it that just 24 hours before the news of Moji Olaiya’s death broke, Moji shared on Instagram a cute photo of her self-smiling in a living room (photo: above) with the captioned message greetings: “Alliamdulilahi to you Allah I give all the glory for all you have done. I will forever praise and worship you. It’s not by power but the Grace of Allah. Thank you for the gift of life. Thanks also to all my friends and family my fans for your supports and prayers. Love you all”.
